Waking in a winter wonderland...

We moved into our new digs the night before last. For three weeks we are making Park Slope our home. That's still in Brooklyn, but a swanky upscale part of Brooklyn - think tree lined avenues, friendly folk walking their kids and poodles, and not a snowballs chance in hell of getting a carpark. Very much 'The Cosby Show' kind of place. It's a lovely neighbourhood & we're very glad to have some personal space again. The apartment is your standard tiny New York setup, except for our bedroom, which is huge, and practically the size of some entire apartments I've seen. This weekend we're taking a break and sleeping in, finding all the neat places around here.

I'm currently writing this entry while sitting in a coffee shop on 7th Ave, just down the road from our new place. You just can't get decent coffee anywhere in New York. Yanks have appalling taste in coffee. They mainly drink filter coffee (uurrrgh) and no-one has any idea about how to use an espresso machine properly (and buy good beans, grind them properly, or steam milk without scalding it). Yes, I'm a coffee snob, I know, but these New Yorkers are supposed to be sophisticated, but let me tell you buddy - it's just a thin facade that's been constructed by too much wealth and no taste....

Rachel was one happy pup this morning - we woke up to snow! Yay! This is the obligatory 'sittin' on the stoop' picture in front of our apartment. It's a classic brownstone apartment, if you know what that means (it means the building is made out of stone that's brown, stupid).

Rach decides to pick a fight. A snowball fight. Not wise, baby, not wise.

You know Christmas is around the corner when the local bodega (convenience store, dairy, etc) starts selling trees. This tree is about six foot tall and will only set you back $95! What a bargain!

How cute, the trees come pre-prepared with fake snow applied......guess we are slightly green..... Speaking of green, that's a very cool blog header team. Have you been learning new tricks?

Just spoke to Sean, he's standing on the beach at Cape Bird where I spent 3mo, just a few feet from some penguins and it's been snowing there too. Love C&C
