Cornwall

We sadly said our goodbyes to Ireland. The night before we left Clodagh and Brian made us an excellent roast lamb dinner - Irish lamb, of course. We rose at an ongodly hour the following morning and set forth for our next destination - the United Kingdom!

Last time I flew my bags were left behind and had to be sent to me the next day. This time the same happened to both of our bags. Pain in the arse.

We landed in Newquay, Cornwall and went straight to the nearest pub for a pie and a pint. Mark, a friend of ours, picked us up and took us to Hayle where he's putting us up for a few nights. Thank god for mates, eh?

The next day we headed out to the Eden Project, a bunch of huge geodesic domes that looked straight out of a James Bond film, except the occupants, instead of being evil billionaires with terrible accents attempting to dominate the world, are all horticulturalists intent on being pleasant and educating children about the environment. Within one set of domes, or biomes as they are called, is a tropical rainforest; another set contains temperate vegetation. The whole setup is like a botannic garden under a giant sized bell jar.

The Eden Project.

Myself, Mark, and Rachel inside the rainforest dome.

The temperate zone.

At the centre of the Education Centre is a room called 'The Core' which houses a huge block of granite carved to resemble a seedpod.

We went down to Charlestown for a wander around the docks where two tall ships are berthed and then a beer at the local pub.

The Eden project looks like my kind of place. Especially the rainforest dome.
