21st November - Woodville, Virginia
We've made it to Virginia! After a hard days yakka we left New York at 2.30am and Adam drove the truck, with its precious cargo of kiwi travellers, to Virginia, arriving at 9am. Our hosts are the Adams' cousins, the Lee family. Wendy and Stephen Lee have a bunch of great kids - 6 of 'em! Their home is an idyllic retreat, right beside the Shenandoah National Park. Deers, raccoons, buzzards, squirrels, and bears are some of their visitors here. Last year Adam was here, sitting on a pile of wood, and saw a bear wandering across a paddock. So he shot it dead. It's currently getting made into a rug.
Nowadays Adam goes nowhere without his lasers. After a scrummy dinner (we brought some NZ mussels for them) we set up the lasers and a smoke machine outside and the kids had a great time running around. This is a 30 second night time exposure outside the Lee house.
More laser beam pics...
This is us in bear country. I'm going to try my luck with getting some deer tomorrow.
The youngest member of the Lee family, Monica, with a friend.
Saw some interesting things on the way to Virginia. It looks like something out of a Flash Gordon movie, but it's actually a Mormon temple in Washington.
